Reactor 4

Reactor 4

Reactor 4 is an original textile artwork inspired by the aftermath of the Chernobyl disaster.

The piece depicts the damaged reactor building surrounded by signs of returning growth, reflecting on the relationship between human destruction and nature's persistence. Decades after the disaster, vegetation continues to reclaim the landscape, transforming a site once associated with catastrophe into something quieter and more complex.

Created entirely from reclaimed materials, including second-hand fabric, thread and hoop, the piece reflects my ongoing interest in environmental impact, decay and renewal. Hand stitching is combined with paint, paper and appliqué to build layers of texture and memory.

Mounted in a 16cm (6½") hoop and ready to hang.
