We Are the Plague 3
We Are the Plague is part of an ongoing series created using reclaimed materials.
The foundation of this piece was discovered in a charity shop, stitched by an unknown maker. I have reworked the original embroidery with appliqué, additional stitching and inks, transforming an abandoned object into something new. The work explores ideas of authorship, reuse and the marks we leave behind, while giving a second life to a piece that might otherwise have been discarded.
The title reflects on humanity's relationship with the natural world and the lasting impact of human activity. By altering an existing embroidery, the work becomes a conversation between past and present, between the original maker and an unknown future.
Created entirely from up-cycled materials, including a second-hand hoop.
27cm diameter.
Ready to hang.
