Chernobyl, Raining Stars

Named after the Lord of the Lost song Raining Stars, this hand-embroidered piece was inspired by the landscapes left behind after the Chernobyl disaster.
 
The work considers how nature persists in places touched by environmental catastrophe. Vegetation returns, buildings slowly disappear beneath growth, and life continues in the shadow of human failure.
 
The image sits between hope and unease: a reminder that recovery is possible, but never without memory of what came before.
 
Created entirely from reclaimed materials, including second-hand fabric, thread and hoop, the embroidery reflects my ongoing interest in decay, environmental impact and the stories embedded within discarded objects.
