Chernobyl, Raining Stars
This original piece of hand embroidery was inspired by the way nature can come back even after a terrible manmade event such as the Chernobyl disaster.
It is called Raining Stars after a song (of the same title) by Lord of the Lost, the chorus is as follows:
Now welcome, dear apocalypse!
We dance in raining stars
We turn this nightmare into bliss
Snowing fire and raining stars.
It is only a matter of time until the next nuclear disaster. Will we be able to dance in the raining stars while it is snowing fire?
The embroidery is made completely from up-cycled materials, all the threads, fabric and even the hoop are second hand as I don't want the manufacturing of these items to contribute to the problem.
It is made using hand embroidery and applique.
The hoop measures 16cm (or 6 1/2") and is ready to hang.
